Kunio-Kun Wiki

Misuzu (みすず?) is a third year student at Taiyō Academy that was first featured in Nekketsu Renegade Kunio-kun. She is an infamous and feared giant sukeban who's information about her is shrouded in mystery. She is described as being someone who can be rather jolly but with an easily triggered temper. In spite of her size and strength, Misuzu wants men to find her attractive, and tends to become enraged if anyone even debatably implies that she's not.

Despite only ever losing a fight to Kunio, her overwhelming power and physique still intimidates him. She does not seem to hold a grudge against Kunio and allies with him on occasion with the two mostly staying in touch with each other to compete against one another.

Appearances[]

Nekketsu Renegade Kunio-kun[]

Misuzu debuts in Nekketsu Renegade Kunio-kun as the third stage's boss alongside her lackeys Kumiko and Kayo.

She is the strongest boss in the game and is able to perform grab moves even if Kunio is not stunned. In the Arcade version, Misuzu has access to two different grab moves and will fight alongside her lackeys in a dark alley. In the Famicom version, Misuzu only has access to her slap grab attack and will fight Kunio alone if the player enters the right-side building. It is still possible to encounter her on Sabu's stage regardless of what option the player chooses on Misuzu's stage.

Shin Nekketsu Kōha: Kunio-tachi no Banka[]

Misuzu first appears at the pachinko hall where Kunio and friends spot her playing by coincidence. Frustrated from losing her money to pachinko, she decides to fight the group to let off some steam. Defeated, she leaves the scene with contentment much to the bewilderment of the heroes. She later appears at Sabu's mansion after being hired by Sabu as a bodyguard and fights Kunio and Riki once more. After another defeat, she warns the two about the self-destruct system in the mansion.

Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun Special[]

River City: Tokyo Rumble[]

When Kunio and Riki are warned by Ginjishi that Benijishi is making a move on Shibuya and that she's the only female leader in the Tokyo Lion Alliance, Riki gives out the idea of getting Misuzu's help as they are hesitant on fighting women. On the following day, the group head to Shinjuku to look for her. Upon finding her in the middle of beating someone up, Misuzu is shocked to see Kunio and asks him why he's in the area. Kunio explains that they're aiming to take down the Lion Alliance and that one of their leaders happen to be a girl, though Misuzu takes offense to this as Kunio has previously fought her with no issue. Not willing to listen to any of Kunio's excuses, Misuzu fights the group. Upon being defeated, Misuzu appears upset that Kunio treats her poorly, though Kunio asks again for her strength and not her whining. Misuzu agrees to join the group and they all get ready to leave for Shibuya on the following day. From this point on, Misuzu is able to travel together with Kunio as an ally controlled by a CPU. Talking to Misako will allow you to switch your ally to Misuzu and on a second run of the game using clear save data will allow you to play as Misuzu when talking to Kyōko.

While looking for Benijishi in Shibuya, though get distracted once she passes by them not realizing that she's the girl they're after. Misuzu gets angry with the group and points out that she was the attractive leader of the Lion Alliance that they were supposed to be looking out for. Once the group catches up to her, the boys introduce themselves and attempt to flirt with her, though Misuzu once again puts a stop to it and brings them all back to reality. Misuzu warns Benijishi that as long as she's in town she'll have no chance in taking over Tokyo, though Benijishi ignores her comments and insults Misuzu's appearance. With Misuzu angered, Benijishi gives a half-baked apology before deciding to fight the group. Upon Benejishi's defeat, the boys check in on her with Riki blaming Misuzu for getting too violent, though Misuzu only tells them to stop worrying about her. When Ginjishi arrives to dissolve the situation, Misuzu repeatedly asks about who Ginjishi is until he eventually apologizes and introduces himself to her. Misuzu is charmed by how polite Ginjishi was to her and begins to think of him as an ally, though Kunio stops her from continuing any further.

On the following day in Asakusa, Riki is impressed at Ukyō and Sakyō being able to strike in perfect sync and later points out that Misuzu and Kunio almost look like they're equally in sync when they're getting ready to fight them, though Misuzu gets annoyed by the comment and tells Riki to be quiet. Upon defeating the two, they mention that they'll need to take down Shishiō and Kinjishi in Akihabara, to which Misuzu questions if Shishiō is the one that they ran into while in Shibuya. The group will travel to Akihabara the next day and will later run into Ginjishi where Kunio eventually fights him alone as a way to knock some sense into him. Upon his defeat, Ginjishi is hesitant to talk any further about the loss of his friend while he was in the Blue Emperors, which Misuzu then recognizes is a tough subject and flirtatiously offers to comfort him, though Kunio asks her to tone it down as they've barely met. When Shishiō shows up and threatens to send the entire Lion Alliance after him, Misuzu realizes that a lot of trouble if ahead if they stick around, so Shinji suggests that they retreat. After running away Kunio questions where Ginjishi went, to which Misuzu tells the group that he ducked down a side street along the way.

When Kunio gets ready to leave for Hong Kong alone to rescue Madoka, the rest of the group state that they want to join him with Misuzu being interested in going shopping there. After defeating Sabu and Lee, Shinji realizes that the old bike hub of Ginjishi's deceased friend that he was carrying blocked Sabu's bullet from hitting him. Kunio and Misuzu point out how tear-jerking Ginjishi's lucky survival is in sync, to which Ginjishi jokes about them having the same thoughts which annoys Kunio. Misuzu is then angered thinking that Kunio doesn't like being in sync with her.

Misuzu is first mentioned by Misako as they escape River City High where she hopes that Misuzu isn't at the school. Kyoko begins to worry about what happens if she is there, to which Misako asks Kyoko if she's gonna let Misuzu stop her from rescuing Riki. Misuzu is later indirectly mentioned by the principal on the school's PA system claiming that she'll be the one to successfully stop Misako and Kyoko. Upon reaching the school's entrance, Misuzu breaks out of a wall to the dismay of the girls. Kyoko threatens to hurt her, though Misuzu laughs at her in disbelief. She then brings up her position in the school's defense force, though Kyoko points out that she doesn't even go to the school which angers Misuzu. She mentions that she's only working for River City High as a way to get extra money and begins to brag about how long she's been in high school for. With Misako getting fed up, she states that they're getting out of the school no matter what and insults Misuzu's intelligence which angers her further.

Upon defeating Misuzu, she comments on how tough the girls are despite their looks and begins to think Misako's brash way of speaking is why Kunio likes her. When asked if she's seen Kunio and Riki, she states that she's only saw them both in Crosstown to somebody she described as creepy looking. Misuzu then questions how the boys would be interested in twigs like Misako and Kyoko and believes that boys actually want women with a strong build like herself. She asks the girls to give her regards to the boys if they find them which disgusts Misako.

Trivia[]

  • Misuzu is inspired by a big and strong high school girl who was in Kishimoto's local area during his youth, though he was not in school when he first met her. This girl had a fight with a man, but he was not really good at fighting and got beaten up. Kishimoto recalled the girl during the production of Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun and also remembered Hisamoto Misuzu, a tremendously powerful girl in the 嗚呼!!花の応援団 (roughly translates to "Oh!! Flower Cheering Party") manga. This led to the creation of the strong, big and scary Misuzu.[1]
  • Misuzu goes on a vacation to Hawaii annually.
